Bernell Functional Binocular Assessment Test Booklet (FBAT)

The Bernell FBAT is a portable anaglyph test designed for convenient binocular assessment in a variety of patients. It is ideal for assessing binocularity in older infants, young children and nonverbal patients who can demonstrate stereopsis and localization by reaching for the stereoscopic figures on the page. Test targets range from simple simultaneous perception to more sophisticated stereopsis, with varying sizes, fusion barriers, and reference targets to categorize binocular aspects of strabismus performance. This in collaboration with Dr. Gregory Kitchener and Dr. Paul Harris developed test booklet is conveniently printed with descriptions, instructions, expected answers and suggestions for the examiner while the patient is viewing the corresponding test plate. This informative and user-friendly tool is a valuable addition to any practice, especially when working with children or nonverbal patients.
