The pandemic has forced many areas of health care to digitalize a lot quicker than before. Also the sector of optometry has faced this change, especially the niche market of vision training (also known as Visualtraining). Before the pandemic, patients came to the optometrist about twice a week to train their vision. Some continued to train at home. A new startup from Denmark called “EYEBAB” has revolutionized digital vision training on 2D screens, such as a PC or tablet. With their new software “EYEBAB VT”, optometrists and other eye care specialists now have a new tool they can prescribe, so their patients can train their vision at home.
VISUS GmbH, the German market leader for vision training tools is now promoting, selling and servicing EYEBAB, mainly in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg.
VISUS is known for introducing modern types of vision training products, which use new technology. In 2016, VISUS became the distributor of the Silicon Valley based startup Vivid Vision, which is the pioneer of Vision Training in Virtual Reality. Today, almost 70 eye care specialists in Europe prescribe and use Vivid Vision.
EYEBAB VT offers digital training content
EYEBAB was established in 2014 and has since the beginning worked on developing and digitizing the company’s portfolio of apps, and digital solutions, which i.a. used for training of binocular vision, reaction time, concentration, endurance and memory. The EYEBAB name was established in 2017, the name being an abbreviation for “Evolutionize Your Eyes, Body, And Brain”. The name points to the fact that our vision is a complex interrelation between the eyes, body and brain which together form a system that works together. EYEBAB’s recognized vision training platform, and digital solutions stem from the comprehensive professionalism from the optometric world, which lays the foundation for all our digital solutions.
EYEBAB VT is an online, future-proof platform that is accessible from all newer devices, with automatic updates, adjustable settings and measurable data. It is easy and intuitive to work with, and it resembles the familiar interface of the smartphone, with app icons. Our vision training apps are developed in close cooperation with functional optometrists and other professionals, who in their daily work can see the benefits of digital solutions in an analogue everyday.
VISUS supports EYEBAB in sales, marketing and customer service
While EYEBAB is focusing on developing new content and hosting the cloud based software through its servers worldwide, VISUS will focus on selling, marketing and servicing EYEBAB in the territories described. „We are extremly happy about being able to offer EYEBAB“, says Moritz Fanti, CEO of VISUS. „It will help enabling more patients to receive a professional vision training based on latest technology and developments, especially during this pandemic.“ EYEBAB can only be prescribed by an eye care specialist, after a professional binocular analysis, as offered by a certified optometrist. Like Vivid Vision and other VT products, EYEBAB will not be sold directly to patients.
